Mixed Relay at Castle Howard

Here are some thoughts fromĀ Colin Thompson who was one of a team of four that took on the Castle Howard mixed relay –

Angela moon myself karen wood and chris wallace headed down to compete, non of us knew exactly what was happening, so we registered set up transition and waited for the brief before the first swim.

Angela went first and started in the lake, on exiting she had a 300m run up hill to transition, after doing her bike and run she had to run past the finish and into transition and tag the next person who then ran 300m downhill swam and ran back up the hill to transition and so on this repeated untill the last person Chris. after speaking with Angela about how she found it she said, it’s a hilly course with no let up and you hate it at the time, but what fun would it be all flat and boring.

Great surroundings and great company and id have to agree the bike was a straight lumpy out and back road and the run was through the woods up hill Karen said it was the hardest thing shes done because it was short it was fast and furious so you where at your max from the start after chris came in to T2 and out for the run he didnt look well but took off at a quick pace still. afterwards found out he had a blistering headache from after the swim.

As chris was finishing the run we went round to the finishing straight to run in together, all in all it was a great day with great members of a great club id definitely do it again it was a great expeirence and to top a excellent day.

We came 10th.
